Primary Election Day is finally here! Today, July 19, is the last day to make your voice heard in Maryland’s primary election. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and you can find your polling location here. Check out my website for more information about voting.
I love visiting each of the 25 polling places across District 20 on Primary Day. I hope to see you at one of them!
Working Together I am proud to be a member of the District 20 state legislative team along with Senator Will Smith, Delegate David Moon, and Delegate Jheanelle Wilkins. The four of us each bring different strengths to our positions, but together we have consistently been one of the most effective and progressive teams in Annapolis. I hope we have earned your vote! In addition to supporting each other, we have all endorsed our colleague Brooke Lierman for State Comptroller.
Join the District 20 Team’s Election Night Watch Party! The District 20 Team along with volunteers, neighbors, and friends are getting together to watch election results come in from across Maryland. Even though we don’t expect to have final results for many of the races, it will be a good opportunity to connect and celebrate voting. Please join us for this free event on Tuesday, July 19th at Zinnia Restaurant at 9201 Colesville Road for hor d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and lively community! Doors will open at 8 p.m., just after the polls close.
Then We Wait for Final Results. . . Unlike many other states around the country, Maryland has expanded voting access. This year a record number of people have requested mail-in ballots, which will not begin to be tallied until two days after the Primary. Certified results may not be available for several weeks. Read this article from Maryland Matters for more details. Democracy and careful counting take time, but are worth it!
