Dear Friend,
Fourth of July Parade: Join Me!
I do love a parade and you just can’t beat the joy of Takoma Park’s Independence Day Parade. Join me and my team this Saturday morning. We will stroll through the streets with signs promoting the issues I champion: addressing climate change, lowering energy prices, improving the food system, and installing energy-efficient heat pumps!

Organizing to Lower Energy Bills
I recently organized 80 of my House colleagues to support an Office of People’s Counsel complaint against PJM, our regional grid operator. Right now, Marylanders are scheduled to pay too much for data center-driven transmission projects. As detailed in this Utility Drive article, PJM has already assigned $2 billion in costs for these transmission projects to Maryland households and small businesses even though they have not caused the projects nor meaningfully benefit from them.
I also have a lot to say about—and am working on legislation to address—the record profits our regulated energy companies are making at the expense of ratepayers. Read more about the issue here.
Together we can hold PJM accountable for their outdated and unfair rules.
Comment on Proposed ICE Detention Center
Tomorrow (July 1st) is the deadline for commenting on the proposed ICE detention center in Washington County, MD. Hagerstown Rapid Response and Washington County Indivisible created NoKingsNoCamps.com, a public comment campaign that allows residents to submit comments directly to DHS in less than two minutes.
