The destructive changes happening at the federal level are—by design—demoralizing and chaotic. Their aftershocks are already being felt throughout our region and the world.
While Trump continues to sow chaos and cruelty, I am working hard in Maryland to protect Marylanders and move Maryland forward consistent with our values.
➤ While Trump pulls us out of the Paris climate accord and guts our climate policies, I am working to create a path to keep Maryland true to our climate commitments and protect rate-payers (e.g. the Abundant, Affordable Clean Energy and Grid Enhancing Technologies bills).
➤ While Trump proposals gut safety net services, I am working to strengthen our unemployment insurance system to ensure sufficient benefit levels and a sustainable trust fund.
➤ While Trump fires the Consumer Protection Bureau director, I am working to strengthen consumer protections against medical debt.
➤ While Trump is rolling back worker protections and rolling out a red carpet for exploitation, I am incorporating labor standards into our policies to ensure we build a strong middle class with new industries we develop in the state.
➤ While Trump demonizes immigrants and tears apart communities, I am working to protect all members of our community, with legislation to restrict Maryland agencies from sharing data with ICE without a warrant signed by a judge and working with community groups to make sure all community members know their rights.
➤ While Trump works to cut taxes for the wealthy to line the pockets of his friends and family, I am working to create an equitable tax structurewhere everyone pays their fair share.
My colleagues in the General Assembly are similarly committed to protecting Marylanders and ensuring that we keep living up to our values. I am also supporting many priorities of the Legislative Black Caucus, the Legislative Latino Caucus, the Legislative Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus, and the Legislative LGBTQ + Caucus to ensure that we continue our progress toward equity in this state.

Walk and Talk: This Saturday, February 8th
Want to know what else we are doing here in Maryland to address Trump's most catastrophic actions, protect vulnerable neighbors, and make sure we all can flourish? Have an issue that is important to you and want to know what is being done about it? Come walk and talk with me.
I also want to hear how you and your community are being affected by these recent developments, what help you may need, and what we can all do to take care of each other.
Join me this Saturday, February 8th, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in the Takoma Park section of Sligo Creek Parkway for a “Walk and Talk.” R.S.V.P. for more details and updates.

District 20 Night in AnnapolisI am biased, of course, but I think District 20 has the best, most talented, and hardest-working delegation in Annapolis. You can decide for yourself by attending our annual “District 20 Night in Annapolis” on Monday, February 17th (Presidents’ Day) from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
At the event you will hear first-hand accounts on the legislative session from Senator Will Smith, Delegate David Moon, Delegate Jheanelle Wilkins, and me.
All attendees must register at bit.ly/D20Night2025. Free transportation is available.
