Early voting starts tomorrow!

Dear Friend:

It was great to see many of you out at the Takoma Park July 4 Parade. I hope to see you all very soon at the polls to vote!

Early Voting Early voting for Maryland’s primary elections starts tomorrow and runs through July 14th. I will be splitting my time between the White Oak Community Recreation Center and the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza, the two early voting sites in District 20. I hope to see you there and to have a chance to connect for a few minutes! Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can find more information about voting here.

Fighting for Reproductive Healthcare Access On June 24th, I joined Pro-Choice Maryland Action’s Bans Off Our Bodies Rally in Wheaton to protest the Supreme Court’s horrifying decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Their decision rolls back our rights to reproductive healthcare and strips away control of our own bodies.

This past session, the Maryland General Assembly passed legislation to increase access to abortion care in Maryland by expanding the type of medical professional who can provide care, creating a training program for clinicians, and expanding insurance coverage of abortion. We are also prepared for people coming from out of state to seek access to abortions. Please know that my colleagues and I are already working on ways to further protect Marylander’s reproductive rights.

Beyond voting for legislators like me who will vigorously defend these rights, if you are looking for more ways to help, consider donating to the Baltimore Abortion Fund, which provides financial assistance and support to people who live in or travel to Maryland for abortion care.

Read my Op-Ed! Check out the op-ed about offshore wind I wrote with Maryland State Senator Brian Feldman in The Washington Post. We make the case for why it is crucial for the state of Maryland to invest in offshore wind energy to fight climate change and improve our economy.

White Oak Traffic Improvements I am delighted that after several years of advocating for a signalized safe crossing at US 29 and Oakleaf Drive, it is finally coming! This is a great step towards creating a more pedestrian-friendly White Oak. You can find more information about this project here.
